Tips for How to Get to Sleep Fast!


We are all living more time crunched lives with lots that we need to fit in on any given day. It’s no surprise that even with our sleep we are looking to take shortcuts. How do we get to sleep fast so that we can make more time for all that we need to get done during day. In this post, I wanted to share my top 5 tips for how to get to sleep fast so that you are able to most effectively make use of all the time in your day! 


1. Stop asking how to get to sleep fast! 


Now, I know, I have slightly fooled you with the title of this piece, but, by far my most important piece of advice for you - do not keep asking yourself and those around you how to get to sleep fast! By wondering and worrying how to get to sleep fast, you are only causing more anxiety which will make it harder to fall asleep. Anxiety and worrying is often what keeps us up at night as our minds get worked up and then find it hard to switch off. This point leads me on nicely and is tied to my second piece of advice. 


2. Make Time for Sleep

Yes, we are all busy, but sleep is important - if not, the most important thing we can control freely. I’d even say more so than our diet and exercise! We all need 7-8 hours each and every night so carve out that time nightly and schedule your day with that in mind. Of all the things that we need to do during the day, sleep is the one aspect that you should avoid taking shortcuts with. Don’t overcommit with your schedule and be realistic with your time.  


3. Try to go to sleep and wake up same time every day 

Our body’s crave routine and this is the same with sleep. The more consistent you make it the more your body will know to start getting your mind and body ready for bed.


4. Power Down 

Life and work is stressful, compounded by always being on. Our devices have become another limb meaning we have ample opportunity to be made stressed or anxious by it. Try to give yourself at least an hour device free before bed to disconnect from emotionally stimulating digital activity. This will make it easier for you to relax and eventually switch off when your head hits the pillow. 


5. Support Healthy Sleep
